Business Development Manager
Responsibility Overview:
The purpose of this position is to expand South East Asia’s servable markets, technology platforms, and capabilities beyond traditional material converting industries and achieve a double-digit top-line revenue growth and above-average returns.
The mission is to develop and commercialize new businesses and expand existing packaging business. It is not on-going sales management of new businesses post commercialization. This entails five core responsibilities.- Identify significant, growth markets where sustainable value can be created through product and service innovation in transport packaging.
- Lead the development of commercially viable solutions
- Identify, select, and develop the most effective channel through which to commercialize these solutions
- Create, execute and manage world-class marketing communications and launch plans
- Transfer ownership and responsibility for these solutions to the most appropriate Sonoco selling organization: Third party commercial partner(s); and/or develop and gain approval for the creation of a more appropriate, new, go-to-market organization.
Requirements:- Outstanding results as leader and change-agent in a high-performing business is a prerequisite
- More than 5 years of experience in Industrial (B2B) and Consumer Marketing
- At least one year of training and/or experience in Operations/Manufacturing management desired
- A track record of delivering outstanding, tangible results in a high-performance environment; defining, quantifying, and enhancing distinctive value propositions; and commercializing new products/service
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute at a tactical level.
- Very strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
- As a vertically integrated company, the successful candidate will need to be able to understand and thrive within a high-complexity business model and supply chain where multiple sources of revenue and profitability combine to create sustainable, competitive advantage.
- Prior experience in managing others with strong situational leadership skills is desired.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or Marketing; MBA desired.
- Excellent communication and outstanding customer-relation skills
